SSH Telnet
Want to know what Telnet is and what it can be used for?
SSH, or Secure Shell, is a network protocol that is used to connect to a server and execute different tasks through a command line. The protocol is employed by many knowledgeable users, as the info transmitted over it is encrypted, so it can't be intercepted on the way by a third party. SSH access can be employed for a number of things with regards to the type of website hosting account. With a shared hosting account, for instance, SSH is one of several ways to import/export a database or to upload a file when the server permits it. In case you have a virtual or a dedicated server, SSH may be used for pretty much anything - you may install software or restart particular services such as the web server or the database server that run on the machine. SSH is used typically with UNIX-like Operating Systems, but there are clients which permit you to employ the protocol if your computer system is using a different OS too. The connection is established on TCP port 22 by default and the remote hosting server always listens for incoming connections on that port though a number of providers change it for security reasons.

semi-dedicated server packages, while with others you will be able to include it through the hosting CP if necessary - even only for the current month. In any case, you could activate and de-activate the feature with only one mouse click via the SSH section of the CP. The full list of the commands that can be executed in a semi-dedicated account is provided in our Knowledge Base, alongside the syntax and a couple of examples. SSH Telnet in VPS Servers
If you buy a new
VPS server from our company, it'll come with full root access and you'll be able to connect to the server and to manage everything using an SSH console. The feature comes by default with all plans, so you will not need to activate or upgrade anything. Your web server shall be set up soon after you purchase it and the instant you receive the Welcome e mail with the login information, you may connect via the server’s main IP address and start working. Since the VPS is a software emulation of a dedicated server and is separated from the other accounts on the physical machine, there'll be no restrictions in terms of the commands which you can use. You shall have full root access, so you can set up and run any application that can work on a Linux machine, manage files, folders and databases or start/stop/reboot the whole machine or any software running on it.
